• Honoris causa Doctor by the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM / Brazil)
• Master of Science in pulp & paper (State University of New York – College of Environmental Science and Forestry and Syracuse University)
• Agronomist with major in Forestry (University of Sao Paulo / Brazil)
• Professor or former professor in several Brazilian Universities (UFV – Vicosa ; USP – Sao Paulo, UFSM – Santa Maria, PUC/RS – Porto Alegre, UNOESC – Santa Catarina, MacKenzie – Sao Paulo and UCS – Caxias do Sul)
• Mill and managerial experience: 3 years in CENIBRA and 19 years in Riocell, two of the major eucalyptus market pulp mills in Brazil
